About Patricia Maness

Genres: Children and Young Adults

Available for: Readings

Bio: Patricia Maness was born and raised in LA (Lower Alabama) and the panhandle of Florida. Her educator parents and her love for music led her to a Masters degree and career in music education and directing bands throughout the South. She retired after 36 years of teaching and lives with her husband, Carl, in LA. She spends time gardening, reading, writing, and traveling with Carl.
Her dream to become a children’s author was realized upon the publication of her first book “Jerome Roams From Home,” …Read More (2010). The publication of a flipbook, “Jerome Roams From Home/Jerome Roams Back Home,” (2020) kept the dream alive.
The first “Jerome” illustrations and ideas came in summer 2005, while the couple were on an RV camping trip at Tablerock Lake in the Ozark Mountains. Sitting outside, reading and enjoying the view, they noticed the variety of RVs, how each one seemed to have a character all its own. Patricia started sketching the various RV types and naming them. Jerome the Motorhome was born!
