Part of the 2024 Alabama Colloquium series, this event features an in-depth conversation between Grammy-winning musicians and songwriters Brittany Howard and Jason Isbell. The duo will be recognized as Alabama Humanities Fellows for how they use the humanities — and their Alabama roots — to lift others up and bring us together. Their powerful storytelling challenges us all to think, to empathize, and to explore what it means to be human. Howard and Isbell will be presented their awards by Patterson Hood, another legendary north Alabama musician and songwriter.

This event is a benefit for the Alabama Humanities Alliance, a nonprofit and nonpartisan organization that provides public programming and grant opportunities statewide.
