In fact, he’ll be in Alabama traveling with the Pulitzer Prize committee. Freedom’s Dominion is a magisterial work — “important, deeply affecting, and regrettably relevant” (NY Times) — which traces the long-running clash between white people and federal authority through the lens of Barbour County, Alabama, the ancestral home of political firebrand George Wallace.
