Father Goose Poetry Contest Submission

We invite any child in the state of Alabama, in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade, to submit one poem answering the theme: “What makes Alabama Great?” All of the entries will be read by Father Goose himself, and a select cohort of young poets will have their poems displayed at the State Capitol America 250 Art Gallery exhibition in April, and will be invited to delivery their poem at the 2026 Father Goose Poetry Festival for Kids!

A POEM IS A LITTLE PATH

A poem is a little path
That leads you through the trees.
It takes you to the cliffs and shores,
To anywhere you please.
Follow it and trust your way
With mind and heart as one,
And when the journey’s over,
You’ll find you’ve just begun.
