DESCRIPTION:When: Tuesday\, April 22\, 6-8 pm \nFee: $25 \nEkphrastic Poetry Writing Workshop: Take inspiration from the artwork in the exhibit of PaperWorkers Local members to write an original poem. Whether you are new to writing poetry or an established poet\, you will enjoy this guided writing exercise led by Poet Tina Mozelle Braziel. Light refreshments provided. \nHere’s how the Poetry Foundation describes ekphrasis: https://www.poetryfoundation.org/education/glossary/ekphrasis \nBIO:  Tina Mozelle Braziel won the Philip Levine Prize for Poetry for Known by Salt (Anhinga Press)\, and her book Glass Cabin (Pulley Press)\, co-authored by her husband James Braziel\, was named Southern Literary Review’s 2024 Poetry Book of the Year. She has been awarded a fellowship from the Alabama State Council on the Arts\, an artist residency at Hot Springs National Park\, the first Eco-Poetry Fellowship for Magic City Poetry Festival\, and the 2022 Alabama Author Award from the Alabama Library Association. She directs the Ada Long Creative Writing Workshop for high school students at UAB. \nTuesday\, April 22\, 6-8 pm. $25 \nIf this is your first workshop\, please submit the workshop participant form.
