SUMMARY:Elaine Weiss with Spell Freedom at the Civil Rights Memorial Center
DESCRIPTION:We are proud to host a talk with award-winning journalist Elaine Weiss\, author of the much-praised The Women’s Hour. In her new book\, Spell Freedom: The Underground Schools that Built the Civil Rights Movement\, Weiss returns with the remarkable story — masterfully told — of four activists whose audacious plan to restore voting rights to Black Americans laid the groundwork for the Civil Rights Movement. Co-hosted by the SPLC Civil Rights Memorial Center.

SUMMARY:Joyce Vance talk about "Giving Up Is Unforgivable"
DESCRIPTION:We’ll be offsite for our big upcoming program with Joyce Vance\, now co-hosted by the SPLC and relocated to the Civil Rights Memorial Center. We’re excited to bring Vance to Montgomery for a talk about her new book\, Giving Up Is Unforgivable: A Manual for Keeping a Democracy\, to be moderated by Alabama Representative Chris England. Vance is a legal professor at the University of Alabama and MSNBC legal analyst. Her book is a political manifesto for our time — part history lesson\, part call to save our Republic. Her talk on Tuesday\, February 24 at 5:30pm will be inspirational. Don’t miss it!
