DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Arts and Humanities Month with an evening of poetry and creative writing at The Jule Museum on Thursday\, Oct. 15. A. Van Jordan\, The Jule Museum’s poet-in-residence\, will read alongside the recipient of the Auburn Witness Poetry Prize\, honoring Jake Adam York\, and the inaugural recipient of The Jule Museum Award for Creative Writing. \nThe new student award recognizes an Auburn undergraduate whose writing responds to an object in the museum’s collection. \nJordan is the author of five poetry collections and a professor of English at Stanford University whose work explores history\, memory\, race\, film\, music and popular culture. \nThe evening brings together poetry\, creative writing and visual art to explore the ways each can inspire new perspectives and conversations. \n  \nThe Third Thursday Literary Series is sponsored by the Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts and Humanities\, Department of English\, and Southern Humanities Review in the College of Liberal Arts at Auburn University; the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Auburn University; and the Alabama State Council on the Arts.

SUMMARY:Sabrina Orah Mark: Third Thursday Literary Series
DESCRIPTION:Sabrina Orah Mark is the author of the poetry collections The Babies and Tsim Tsum. Wild Milk\, her first book of fiction\, was published by Dorothy\, a publishing project.
