SUMMARY:Jonathan Eig to Read for NewSouth Bookstore at King Memorial Legacy Center!
DESCRIPTION:A magnificent new biography of Martin Luther King Jr.\, entitled King: A Life\, is making headlines. The NewSouth Bookstore is proud to host author Jonathan Eig for a talk about the book\, this being his only Montgomery appearance. The program is scheduled for Thursday\, June 8 at 5:30pm. For reasons of expected attendance this event will be held at the Dexter Avenue King Memorial Legacy Center\, located directly behind the church\, at 455 Washington Ave.\, Montgomery\, Alabama. Please make note. King: A Life is the first definitive biography about Martin Luther King Jr. in decades. The New York Times\, Washington Post\, NPR\, and others have named it in their most anticipated books of 2023 list. About the work Ken Burns says\, “Eig has pulled off a kind of miracle. Here is the King we know\, think we know\, and ought to know. Here is the leader\, the preacher\, the orator\, the husband\, the father\, the martyr\, the human being — not with melodramatic halo in place\, but in all his heroic\, tragic Glory. Hallelujah!” Hope you will join us for this special program on June 8.
